We do not want to sustain what is harming life.

We are here to make things worth keeping.

Life, to us, implies responsibility. We do not believe waste is luxury. BETTER BÅLLS makes objects, clothing, writing, and symbols with the intention that they are used, loved, repaired where possible, remembered, and kept. The goal is not to flood the world with things. The goal is to make things worth keeping.

We are not interested in greenwashing. Too much “sustainability” language has become branding theatre: soft words, vague promises, recycled-looking labels, and little change in how much is made, moved, wasted, or forgotten. Responsibility has to be more honest than that. It has to include what we make, how much we make, how we ship, how people buy, how long objects last, and whether the thing deserved to exist in the first place.

Responsibility begins before anything is made.

Before material is ordered.
Before a sample is produced.
Before a product page is written.
Before an object enters the world.

The first question is simple:

Should this exist?

If the answer is yes, then the responsibility continues.

What should it be made from?
Who should make it?
What tradition, skill, or local knowledge does it support?
What does it cost?
What does it ask from the world?
What does it give back?
Will it be used, loved, remembered, repaired, gifted, or kept?
Or will it become one more forgotten thing?

BETTER BÅLLS does not believe responsibility can be reduced to recycled packaging, soft language, or a certification badge.

Responsibility is a relationship.

With natural materials.
With makers.
With local traditions and cultures.
With customers.
With community.
With memory.
With the body.
With money.
With beauty.
With the future.

The practice of responsibility

We prefer natural materials where they make sense: fibres, leathers, papers, woods, metals, and substances that belong to the living world.

We value the traditions, techniques, and local cultures carried by makers. Craft is not just production. It is memory practiced through hands.

We make in small quantities because scale is not neutral.

We charge transparently because hidden costs do not disappear; they are only pushed onto someone else.

We avoid careless overproduction because waste is not made beautiful by calling it luxury.

We accept that making is imperfect.

Some pieces teach us what to improve. Some materials demand better methods. Some ideas need to pause before they return. Some failures reveal the boundary between what we thought we were building and what was actually being born.
