BETTER BÅLLS: Humble Beginnings

This was a very personal concept & project to produce and compose. We met Reggie on a pilgrimage to visit the resting place of my grandfather at the Westwood Village Memorial Park in LA. Slightly unprepared yet inspired, we plucked a rose from the grounds & wanted to place one as a gift for my grandpa, since roses were his favorite. We were caught by Reggie, he saw us attempting to reach up the wall to get the flower in. He said he is a problem solver & was determined to help us get the rose in there. He also called us out because he saw us plucking the rose. We eventually found a trash bin flipped it over, climbed up, and succeeded!

After the rose success, he was curious about us since he realized we were not there for Marilyn or Hugh, yet he had never seen us there before and he visited his mom every week, and my grandpa and his mom were resting plot neighbors. After that Reggie became our LA advisor. He helped us immensely in the city, navigating, and life advising.

When I asked him to help with a tribute video to my grandfather, he immediately said he would help in what ever way. Additionally, we wanted to honor Reggie’s own heroic story of saving and tending to multiple pets during the LA wildfires. Reggie found out that some of his friend’s animals had to be left behind due to the fact that they were not home when the evacuations occurred. He could not stand the fact that these animals could be without food or water so he took his secret route back in to tend to the left behind animals on two rescue missions.
